Great write up. Agree with Karl. The "chill" factor is the tops at Endurance races. I've had nothing but great experiences at endurance events. From the racers, volunteers, promoters, etc., Glad to hear Chris Eatough is the real deal. The only time I really had any contact with him was at the Mohican 100 last year, when he congratulated me as I crossed the line. SEVERAL hours after him! HA!

I need to see if I can work out some "gentlemen's agreements" for my mid pack finishes :)

I have to agree with msscotch that Chris Eatough is a classy guy. The same goes for virtually 100 percent of the men and women racers I've met at endurance races. The "chill" factor among the endurance crowd is one of the reasons that I personally gravitate towards endurance events. It's a great scene and I like being a part or it -- even if I am a "back of the pack" guy that's riding a 100-miler just to finish, and not for the podium.

Eatough is such a classy guy. Not to say Nat Ross and the rest aren't, just that Chris is, based first hand experience at last years race and this years. Last year Chris and Nat came up behind me on one of the night laps and were so polite asking to get around. Chris was leading and made sure I knew there were 2 riders so both could get around without me pulling in behind him and accidentally cutting off Nat. He wanted to make sure there was room for both. To me that was very cool.
This year Chris rode up next to a friend of mine on a double track section and asked him how it was going and what category he was in, etc. My friend knew who he was, so there was no need to ask who Chris was. This was my friends first mtn. bike race and he was very impressed.
It's refreshing to have these pros showing such respect for us citizen riders out there......so different than when one hears or experiences the opposite from some of the pro wannabes that can be so rude and inconsiderate.
