Riding with Kids Update

Posted: November 2nd, 2007 by Eric McKeegan

After going to press with “Riding with Kids” in issue 130 our trip to Interbike shed some light on the running/no pedal bike market in the US. Kool-Stop imports the wooden Like-A-Bike from Germany. Specialized has a boys and girls aluminum version in their 2008 catalog, and Strider is importing a low cost version with an optional foot brake. A co-workers recent infatuation with dual sport motorcycles led me to these bikes in the Aerostich catalog.

There’s also the Kettler Sprint. (Well) Made in Germany, adjustable seat height, etc.

UPDATE: The Kettler Sprint is now made in China, not Germany I believe. There is a thorough review of all of the various models on the market…pro’s and con’s: http://tview29.wordpress.com
