Urban Assault Ride 2009
Posted: April 3rd, 2009 by Karl Rosengarth
The New Belgium Brewing Urban Assault Ride is a bike scavenger hunt taking place in ten cities across the U.S. Teams of two will create their own course to reach each checkpoint and use street-smart riding skills to get there. A traffic ticket will result in disqualification. At each checkpoint riders will then compete in fun obstacle courses and zany mental and physical challenges, like bike limbo, big wheel racing, and bouncing around in inflatable playgrounds. Riders can also opt to take a time penalty in place of competing in the sideshows.
Expect to ride 20-25 miles, have a lot fun and do it all to promote cycling. An after party featuring New Belgium Beer is the final stop. There are mystery checkpoints in addition to those on the map and clues to finding the first one are on the Urban Assault Ride website as well as a list of rules and an entry form.
Dirt Rag and Bicycle Times are proud sponsors of the Urban Assault Ride. The 2009 schedule:
