My opinion is that I'd buy a Monocog 29er from the LBS. Steel, disc compatable, and you know its assembled correctly.

I do know a guy with a Moto 29er, and he loves it, but he only commutes on it.

If it were me, I would spend the extra $150 and get the 'Cog.

I'd second the advice to look at the Monocog, or at a used ss 29er. Buddy of mine got the Motobecane, and it's not a bad looking frame, but the gearing is all wrong for offroad, and even if you put in the extra $ to change out the chainring and cog, it's not disc compatible.

The GT i bought isn't disc compatible either, however the front hub is?!? go figure. I plan on buying the next on one 29'er fork I see and running a disc up front. I'm nervous about the eccentric bottom bracket, but It's ok. I'll just upgrade to a better frame when the time comes. For riding with my 7 year old daughter on her pink huffy (grannma and grandpa) and carrying the trailer with the dog (spud the pug) and a radio, we'll be ok. I only do light offroading. In illinois, the closest thing we have to mountains are fire roads.
