This thread is for folx living in and around Pittsburgh. Roaring Run is a park in Noth Apollo, which is about 45 minutes north east of the Burgh.

This place is sick! It wore me out. I raced there last summer and planned to come back, but it did not happen until last weekend.

Man, was I impressed, the racecourse did not even touch the surface of the terrain there. Some of the trails are just intensely steep and technical with lots of water crossings, and quick, steep, ups and downs.

There is still alot left to explore there, so a bunch of us are planning to spend our entire sunday there. 3-30-03

If anyone is interested send a secret message or reply before friday, it will be an alll day adventure.

This place rox. It is by far the most technical, mind blowing singletrack terrain I have yet encountered in the immediate area.

Notice I specified singletrack. Its not really like freeride kind of stuff, just lots & lots of steep ups & downs, rock gardens a plenty, slick roots. Long ass climbs, & looonngggg, steeep downhills. Some that I wouldn't even attempt to descend.

What is really impresssive though is how tight & windy everything is - like a roller caoster. A friend and I spent several hours navigating the terrain there. If you consider yourself to be an XC hardass, this place is a dream come true. I even had to lower my seat a bit on some of the long downhills.

Also there was a huge brush fire there last saturday, which left a large chunk of the park looking like hell. Literally, just rocks, dead trees, and ash everywhere. Since it was snowing yesterday we decided to take some photos of riding in hell. Pretty cool.

Pittsburgh weather is jacked, but hey at least we get a little bit of everything.:p
