If any of you have the opportunity to attend a bike fest/race/whatever that offers demo rides, don't be shy - step on up and grab a bike. It's a great way to test different bikes and geometries, and there is usually a small size per manufacturer. You're not being unfaithful to your current steed, you're just expanding your bike brian. Just a note: sometimes the demos are in high demand, so don't be a wallflower . . . festival season is upon us, so take advantage of it!

I am starting to shop for a new mountain bike. I am tired of the one I currently own. Due to the frame design, I can only have an Etype front derailleur which is preventing me from having a straight chain line. Anyway, I am tired of having to deal with less than perfect shifting.

Now that I know more about what I want, I am going to be very picky. It will probably take me a year or more to find THE BIKE for me. Thanks to your advice, I am going to demo like crazy. Also, my husband is a good friend of a bike shop owner who will have demos this weekend at a bike festival i am attending. The bike shop guy is bringing me a Specialized Epic to demo.......WooHoo!!!!

Anyway, thanks for the demo tip. I plan to put it to use all summer long.

cool stumpy...

post some reviews and pics here so we can all see? How tall are you? I had trouble at 5ft 2" finding a bike to fit me... though Kona's were quite good - spesh had long top tubes though. But I wouldn't swap my jooly for anything... except maybe another one with less scratches... ;) and then only maybe...

Previous to buying the Juliana, i, like some of my friends suffered from our SO's picking bikes for us( obviously with every good intention), and being told they had the right geometry for us... even when they didn't.

I test rode the Juliana cushtail for 40miles around the welsh hills (courtesy of chipps- and Dickon at SC) and when at the end of the weekend, I was still happy to sit on it, I knew it was the bike for me.
