After a good ride I like to indulge in a few barley/hops based beverages. Lately I've been partial to those that are brewed south of the border such as Tecate, but also enjoy Corona, Pacifico, or Bohemia.
You "real men" can call me a wuss, but at times I prefer those hard lemonades.
So, what kinds of after ride "beverages" do you all prefer after a ride, or if you're just chillin' 'round the crib and hangin' with the homeys.

I thought there was no other than St. James' Gates very own Guinness! Dark, creamy, smooth, malty! You can just watch the nitrogen slowly being released into the atmosphere. Iron, vitamin b12, proteins, truly a meal. For those of you who think it's a strong and heavy beer, well, then tell me how it floats in a half and half? It's lighter than CO2 beers, and better for you, not that health is the point of the matter. Oh, I like other beers, but Guinness is an institution. I've spent some time as a brewer's assistant( Brewer's Ass. for short). I've had my fair share, but I keep coming home to the one and only.
Now that I'm finished talking about my #1 beer, I would like to invite anyone out there in the Pittsburgh area to come out to where I moonlight 2 nights a week. D's Six Pack Shop in Regent Square. We carry around 12-1300 different beers from around the world. Some of the Dirt Rag Staff come in as well, and also a lot of local riders. So, as second jobs go, I can't complain about a job where I get to talk about bikes and beer all night long, have a few drinks, and still make it out to do what ever. I'm not trying to advertise, because I don't own the place, I'm just trying to say, that on any given night there are a bunch of riders who come together to celebrate the ol' booze, and just commune. They even sponsored a team this year at Snowshoe. So, if anyone makes it in, I usually only work two nights a week, so just ask for the "newer" Max(there are two). Hope to see you.

How come that joint wasn't around when I lived in Pittsburgh? Jeez. When I lived in Philly before I moved to Pittsburgh, I worked at the Foodery on 10th and Pine. That is where I really learned about great beer. It was a typical Center City corner market, but we sold over 400 brands of beer. Everyone, from the homeless people buying 40s of Old English to the Jefferson med students buying Chimay, shopped there. Interesting place.
As for beer and cycling. I'm thinking of doing a piece on Pabst Blue Ribbon. So many cyclists drink that. I have been asking a few people and they all say the reason is price, but there are a lot cheaper beers out there.
My personal favorite post ride brew...next to a tall glass of ice water...is Victory Festbeir. Classic stuff.

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Perfect all around beer.

I won't get started on the Belgian stuff, it's the cream of the crop.

Pabst - the beer of choice of the Pittsburgh Punk crowd. That and Iron City. Iron City is seen less often due to the $7 or so difference in price for a case. Why Pabst? Why not? I mean, its not the tastiest out there by any means but it is consistent and easy to drink. Its not purely price as there are cheaper beers available that do make an appearance now and again, American being the close runner up to Pabst on the popularity scale.

Speaking of beer, JeffG turned me on to Red Stripe over the weekend. I must say I liked it better than many of the beers I've had over my short stint as a member of the drinking crowd...

After a long, hard ride at Gambrill State Park in Fred-ROCK, Maryland, my buddies and I hit up the local brew pub, Brewer's Alley. They have the best micro-pub brews...EVER! After slugging back a few pints...we get the growler to go ($7 refills!!!).

Other than that, I drink what is put in my hand, but agree with Maurice S.N. Pale Ale is a great post-ride beverage.

Hey, y'all. This is the first time I've ever posted a message on the forum, so I'm kinda stoked. Anyway, beer is the topic and I've got to say that the Copperhead Pale ale is probably my favorite after ride brew. It's brewed by the Free State brewery here in Lawrence Ks and its got the sharp bite like a good IPA should. It gets pretty hot in KS over the summer so I end up drinking hefe wiessen sometimes. Just a little more refreshing when the temps above 95 or so. Later

Lately, I've been hooked on Rolling Rock before, during and after rides. Payton Pilsner is the micro-brew of choice, though I rarely get the opportunity to sample it.

Moe has a good point.. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

But my new favorite beer is the Victory Hop Devil... hoppier than the Sierra Nevada, just about the same price or less, and it's made in PA, so around here, it's fresher than that stuff from out West.

Go try it!!!

Being 20 and not a drinker anyway, I don't have the opportunity to sample much alcohol, but Corona is my fave.

Right on, DRVP! There are some serious problems if there's no HopDevil in the basement fridge. Once I get the kegerator running, it'll be the first one tapped. Then maybe a 1/2 of Hoppin' Copper from The Foundry...

I will however say that Old Mil always has a place next to the HopDevil. Great grass-cuttin' beer and you can't really beat ~$14 for a case o' pahnders...

I stopped by the ol' Roundhouse last weekend for a six pack of Payton Pilsner. While I was there, I tried their latest creation, Hemp Ale.

Good thing you guys phrased your posts the way you did, because neither of you mentioned any beers! :p ;)
