I use just a little blinky here in the 'burbs but I am probably going to get a cheap night rider or something. My commute is only about 40min so a smaller light is all I need.

I lite the nite rider trail rat for night commuting. It's cheap, relatively bright (10watts), and lasts about 2 hours. It does take overnight to fully charge.

i use the niterider trail rat myself. I actually have 2...one for uptop and one for the bars, of course i only use both for trails, but I find good lights are worth the investment adn with two you can have a spare battery.

I am a bit of an over the top person. I use two rear blikey lights from cat-eye, the long thin ones, I have one on each chain stay, or just one under myseat. Then for front lights I used to have a digital evolution from NiteRider, when I realized that I could use an HID. This light is so freaking bright people think I am a motorcycle. or another car. It is amazing on the trail if you like nite rides, but a bit cost prohibative. If you check out the new offerings from NiteRider you will find that only the Trail Rat was left out this year for digital batteries and charger. This means it takes longer to charge and is shortens the over-all life of your battery.

I ride the Rat. Pretty happy with it, though I often go ghosty.

Anyone know of any lights that have dual voltage chargers? I'm living in Italy now but I will go back to the States eventually. I'd like a charger that was dual. I can use a transformer but I don't feel comfortable using them with stuff like batteries. There's gotta be some company out there that makes 110/220.

I have a ghetto Tikka headlamp that I can rig to my helmet and use in a pinch. It's pretty bright for a tiny LED headlamp and it last a long time on some AAAs. It weighs next to nothing.

Thanks for the advice, LBS gave me a decent deal on a Nite Rider H.I.D light. The thing is other-worldy brite, but over kill when just riding home from work.

good to hear your shop helped you out. I actually wait till later in the summer if I cannot ride with out a light, less people to blind. The HID if freaking great.

i use a 15 watt vista light with two accu's witch last two hours each ( but with a 10 watt pit the run mutch longer) witch is giving good results in my experiences it doens't hurt to have a BIG light.cars have more fear from things with big headlights.for the back i go for the red l.e.d. lights the run for ever on recharble accu's.
