View Full Version : Are you a Stickerer?

There seems to be three types of people in this world:
1) People with no stickers/logos on their stuff
2) People with stickers all over their stuff
3) People like me that have this huge pile of collected stickers but can't seem to make a commitment on where to stick them. :D
Here is a co-workers singlespeed I am using to inspire me to finally give my stickers a home. Jahnov's bike in the Winter Steeds (http://www.dirtragmag.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12982) thread is another fine example.
Let's see your stickered bikes, autos, trailers, toolbox/workbench, garage beer fridge, etc...

I tend to ignore stickers because I don't like branding my stuff...I rarely wear tshirts with brand names on them and stuff like that. I do have an ACS sticker on my Nalgene bottle and an IMBA sticker on my jeep. Oh, and a "put the fun between your legs" sticker on my singlespeed.

I don't put logo stickrs on my bikes. They'll usually get those slogan stickers like "what would danzig do?" and "environmental stickers don't mean shit when they're stuck to cars!" on the Xtrasurly.
For some reason all my logo stickers get stuck on my big thermos. I hardly use the thing except to hold stickers.

No stickers on my bikes except one DR sticker that I put on my NRS to cover a large gouge in the frame.
Got a few on my Jeep.....

I'm of the destickering and restickering variety. Take off things like fork decals and resticker them to a more tasteful and unique degree.
And I have a stack of stickers that have accummulated...

I am not a stickerer, except for one toolbox I have just because I had so many stickers and didn't know where to put them...
I have tried to "unsticker" a bike for paint...what a PITA!

I am one of these people... but there is a car around town over here that is completely covered from nose to bumper in stickers... just think the company name on the bike is good enough... now car decals...
Hmm... If NoggaSS gives me a nice Misfit Psycles logo to splash across the back window of my car, I'll advertize... only cause it's a cool logo... but not the skull one... just the name logo... Hey NoggaSS... get me one will you! So the Mizz can sell you some more bikes!:D

I thought I was the only one who hoarded away their stickers, forever waiting for the appropriate location and timing for their placement.
Apparently, you people are crazy too.
I'm a sticker-a-holic I'll admit it. I'll take some pics when I get home. A few actually go on the bikes - usually IMBA and NEMBA stickers. Most are on the car, cooler, fridge, workstand and coffee mug.
I like digging in the storage closet and finding older things I used covered in band stickers. Most of the bands are no longer around and it'll usually trigger some good memories of shows I saw etc.....

I'm not a fan of name-brand stickers, although there are a few exceptions if I really really like a product they make. I have a "kill your TV" sticker on one bike, and a DR 1x1 sticker on the On-One. That's it on the bikes. On my truck, however... I've got a cap that has a nice assortment of politically motivated stickers in the rear. I love watching people read them at stoplights, it's fantastic. Grump, while I whole-heartedly agree with your "environmental stickers don't mean anything when stuck to a car" sentiment, I also subscribe to the "No sticker gets read if not in a conspicuous place" theory. My bikes are usually inconspicuous to keep them from getting stolen....People have to stop and wait behind me in traffic. :)

I just keep the original stickers on things. I used to be a sticker person in my teens. I had a Hot-rod or 2 that had stickers all over the inside of the engine compartment. I'm not big on bumper stickers either, although i have a sticker on my rear window(NRA).
What about those folks who buy a truck, then order every possible bolt-on, or stick-on item from the J.C. Whitney catalog to cover they're truck with. Like bug shields, diamond plate everywhere, nerf bars, extra lights on the top of the cab, a bunch of extra antennas, tow bars on the front, and the obligatory 'big boys have big toys' bumpersticker!

A discrete IMBA sticker on the car and on the bike... and one toolbox COMPLETELY PLASTERED with everything else.
But my real problem is what to do with all the damn patches I've accumulated up over the years. They won't go on the tool box, so the camelbak is begining to accumulate some of the better ones. But sewing them on takes a lot more time than peel-n-stick, so not as many make the cut.

Myronius, what we do Down here when a fridge dies is lay her on her back ,punch a drain hole thru a corner & fill her with beer & ice!! If it is a big one you know when you are too pissed when you don't have the strength to open it!!!:D
Do I sticker my bikes? Not much, one dirt rag sticker each on my Stumpy and my Bianchi, no stickers on the road bike. However the tool box is another matter!

I had stickers on under the hood of my mustang... got rid of them when I removed all the performance parts and made her stock again... she's up for sale as I am parting with my beast:(
As far as decals on cars, the only one I had was on the back window - a little vulgar kid grabbing his crotch giving you the finger salute... my licence plate read back then AAAKU
The only decals going on my VW will be Misfit splashed on my rear :D ... the car that is:cool:
That remindes me, my suburban has a "ride your bicycle" sticker in the back window and a IMBA sticker on one side of the rear bumper with a Dirt Rag sticker on the other side.

OI!!! The shed gets to about 130F in the summer, hell on ice.
I am thinking of installing a stand up urinal in the garage next time we build a house. The current method I use to know when I'm too pissed is when I have to stumble through the house to the pisser.

i always put a rag sticker on each bike (cuz i really believe it's a great forum!),one of the small rectangular ones (used to put the small square ones, but ran out),one on each side of the top tube, but my monocog has a "one less car" on one side,as i used to ride it all over town.if you remember the small square rag stickers from last year that had the skull w/ peace symbol onit,i put one on my blizzard and monocog's steer tube under the head badge(thought it looked cool cause those are white and black frames).
i use a clipboard at work, and have fork stix all over it,but i tastefully applied my best transparent marzocchi sticker on the 3rd brake light on the 06 silverado...that i decided to sell to buy a more efficient truck:( ...i loved that sticker, and the used truck i replaced that new one w/,been broke down since the 3rd day i had it...trucks-r-coffins too:D

hehe... stickers make me happy...
Im not big on stickering bikes; they dont have quite enough of a face for anything but small stickers, and small stickers dont get read by passerby, so whats the point? I like the restickering thing too: my nalgene has a few of those "CAUTION: bicycling is an inherently dangerous sport. Misuse of this bicycle could result in bodily harm or death. Always wear a helmet and refer to your user manual or local dealer."

I swiped a sticker off a computer that said "Asleep with power management technology" and proudly displayed it on my Nalgene while in classes I was bored of :)

My first year down here in Venezuela, I was just starting a ride from the compound I lived in. There was a low spot on the perimeter fence I used to put my bike through and hop over. One day on one of the fence posts, was a yellow hard hat. I checked it out. It had a cool "Red Adair; Oil Well Fire Control" sticker on the front. I carefully peeled it off and stuck it to the downtube of my Merlin. Its still there.

I've taken to cutting stickers up to make them more interesting. From "Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and good with ketchup" I've got "crunchy and good with ketchup" on the bike and "meddle" on the car. One that I won't cut up is "wag more, bark less".

I love that song!
While digesting Reader's Digest
In the back of a dirty book store,
A plastic flag, with gum on the back,
Fell out on the floor.
Well, I picked it up and I ran outside
Slapped it on my window shield,
And if I could see old Betsy Ross
I'd tell her how good I feel.
Chorus:
But your flag decal won't get you
Into Heaven any more.
They're already overcrowded
From your dirty little war.
Now Jesus don't like killin'
No matter what the reason's for,
And your flag decal won't get you
Into Heaven any more.
Well, I went to the bank this morning
And the cashier he said to me,
"If you join the Christmas club
We'll give you ten of them flags for free."
Well, I didn't mess around a bit
I took him up on what he said.
And I stuck them stickers all over my car
And one on my wife's forehead.
Repeat Chorus:
Well, I got my window shield so filled
With flags I couldn't see.
So, I ran the car upside a curb
And right into a tree.
By the time they got a doctor down
I was already dead.
And I'll never understand why the man
Standing in the Pearly Gates said...
"But your flag decal won't get you

you'd think after all these years man would realize war is futile ..
now there's things like "dirty bombs" and "nuclear warheads" that we have to worry about ..
humans bent on acheiving power, status and money. these people are willing to use these weapons instead of just tolerating and cooperating amongst all cultures.
and oh yeah .. i'm down with stickering but, on nice stuff i try to keep it pretty clean and stock.
