USA cycling even license

I haven't even been riding for a full year, and I am in need of some improvement, but I totally wanna give racing a shot this summer. I saw for a license to race its $60. Is it worth this for the beginner class racing? I live in the immediate philadelphia area and I am guessing I would have to drive a decent distance to get to a race. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Check with your local race series or promoter. You can usually buy a one day license and I would suggest that if you are just starting.

Our local NORBA series doesn't require Beginner class racers to have a license.
