Most of the cartilage is gone in my knees. Getting out in really cold weather makes them numb. Cheaper than ibuprofen.

nope, never happens to me. if it's cold enough for my knees to get cold, I have bigger problems. like frost bitten male bits. Though, I don't usually do 35 miles in one go in the winter.

Have you tried anything like Atomic Balm or Freddy's Choice warming gels?

mine get tight and or pop a lot when the temp dips. as long as i can keep em warm they stay loose. i've stuck a hand warmer under my knee brace and it does wonders. knee warmers are nice too

yep, smashed mine on a passing tree the other day. It would have imitated a watermellon in the summer, and it's imitating a watermellon right now.

I find that one bottle of J.W. Dundees Honey Brew to work great for what I call "crunchy knee".

That's my mothers favorite beer. She says it goes good with a dip of Skoal.

Bit o tendonitis maybe? I got the same issue in the cold weather. A pair of knee warmers and stretches to warm up before hopping on the saddle seems to help me.

Double check your saddle height too...it could have slipped down and that is creating the problem. Where in the knee is the pain? Top, side, bottom? Both knees?
