My wife has one and she loves it. The frames are on the heavy side, but for the price you can't beat it. It's a great way to get started in SSing. At first I was worried about the bmx spacing on the rear hub, but there are a lot more bmx hubs available than SS mtb hubs.

I love mine so much I actually started a bloody website (http://www.fearlessgearless.com) in honour of the thing! Madness I tell you.

That said, I have been riding mine for a couple years now and currently it is my only mountain bike. It is heavy as sin (30 lbs) but I can't break it. Trust me I tried. Originally, built for the North Shore (heavy rims and a psylo fork) I have crashed it coming up short on gaps, hitting trees, and landing flat off drops. It takes it all without a wimper.

Recently, I moved out east and now it has become my XC machine. I threw 180 cranks on and I am currently mixing it up with the geared crew in the expert class. The bike does just fine in this new role.

It does use BMX hubs, but I find "mountain bike" hubs cost twice as much for what is almost an identical set up. Plus the total lack of QRs on my bike is rather refreshing and has made the front laterally rigid like you wouldn't believe (just carry a 15 mm wrench incase of flats).

Bottom line? Its cheap, works well, but you do pay a slight weight penalty. However if your that tech crazy to worry about weight why ride a single anyways?;)
