Anyone know wnything about them that I can't find out on their website? I understand that they are classified as "dual-sport" so that one can run road tyres and MTB rubber. Does this mean that the chainstay width is that goofy 132mm?
Please advise...

Yeah-I found all of that stuff. It's the stuff I can't find that I wonder about. Anywho...any idea if this is a pig-in-a-poke or the real deal?

The Bontrager wheelset is a standard 135mm MTB rear but the rest of the parts spec is fairly downmarket on the drivetrain compared to the Montare. The geometry seems built around the 63mm travel fork so if you upgrade the fork to an 80mm Reba you'll likely start to mess with the geometry a bit. They don't appear to be on an upgrade path to the GF 29'rs even though it has Genesis geometry. They look like thy're intended for a more versatile off-roadable commuter bike than a more commutable off-road bike.

I think the Montare and the Cobia are the same frame, so the Montare could be a "real" 29er with a fork change.

That looks to be true, the Montare might be a better buy in terms of a real 29'r

Not looking at complete bike. There's a Kaitai frame and headset available on eBay. I'm just reticent to pull the trigger given my questions.
