I am not sure if I post here in this section?
I am looking to purchase a bike travel case for my 29er. I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good hard case? I am so lost when I look at the variety that is out there. I plan on doing some more traveling this year and want to bring my bike with me.
Thanks!

Trico's hard case (http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?category=122&subcategory=1134&brand=&sku=3266&storetype=&estoreid=&pagename=Shop%20by%20Subcat%3A%20Travel% 20Case) will fit a road bike and road wheelset, might need to deflate fat 29'er tires. Solid case is less prone to hidden crushing than soft cases.

Where you going? Hopefully somewhere nice.
The mountains? The beach?

Maui is supposed to have nice trails, although you might need to take a bigger rear cog for some of the climbs.
I still want to go to New Zealand for a Lord of the ChainRings ride.

One place on my list that I've never had the opportunity yet to visit would be our Northwest. Rocky sends us some beautiful photos from up there so I'd figure Oregon & Washington would be similar.
Hey Mysty, is Mikey doing this triathlon? (http://www.thegrandcolumbian.com/) I'd punish myself through a triathlon like this just to enjoy that scenery! Not much here to look at in the phlatlands... :(

Hood River, Oregon is one of my favourite places to ride and to hang out, very cool town. Bend, OR is supposed to be very cool, and much more like east slope dry than the wet side of the mountains we're on here on the coast. It would be like Merritt in BC, high prairie climate (much like the central Washington area, central Idaho and Montana). There's a bunch of trails around the Pinchot forest near Mt.St.Helens, and the MacKenzie River Trail in Oregin is on my to do list as well.

Mizz, I can vouch for hard cases. I have one similiar to the one Rocky linked to. I don't remember the brand I have, but it looks similiar except it has no external straps.
I have flown my Merlin internationally a few times with it. Pain in the ass, but bomber. The case's drawback is it is so bulky that it has missed a connecting flight more than one time...that's worrysome. That is why I decided to get a take-apart bike that fits in a smaller case.

Come to NM when I am there, and I'll show you some epic stuff in the Gila. Both road and mountain. There's also a lot of stuff around Gallup, Santa Fe, Albuquerque, the Jemez.
One place I really want to ride to is to the Gas Buggy site, near Dulce, NM, the site of a nuclear explosion in 1967 or 1968.

Thanks for the info on the case. I'll have to take a peek and see if the local bike shop has any.
I'll post pictures when I get there ... I'll leave you all hanging:D
Let's just say it is not North America:rolleyes:
Wonder if there are any good trails in Greece? Hmmm...
