Anyone know if the Mesa Mountain Hardtail from schwinn is? My friends got one from her cousin and wants to use it to try and see if she wants to get a good solid hardtail. Would this be ok for a couple rides to get a feel for things? Thanks everyone.

It actually has better spec's than you'd expect, it would be trail suitable for a beginner.

I got a Mesa frame. I like mine, if it were SS-able I would still be using it. I like the epi-center seat stays and Tri-molly tubing on it

Shit sorry, mine is a Frontier. I don't know if that makes it better or worse.

frontiers are farther down the line than the mesa. pretty much at the bottom.

A top tier Mesa was my first bike I bought from a shop. At $600 it seemed a little steep to a 15 yr old, but I've still got the frame in regular use, as well as a couple of other pieces, and have to say it's one of my favorite hardtail frames that I've owned. The last of the Scwhinn hardtails were works of art, no matter which one you got. That said, I can't speak for what's been done since Pacific bought them, so watch what you've got.
