I want to mount fenders on my road bike. Clearance isn't a problem, and there are actual fender eyelets fore and aft. Even have rack eyelets on the seatstays.

But there is no chainstay bridge. Yeah I know; zip ties. But I'd like something abit more elegant. Ideas?

Not quite what I had in mind. I was thinking more along the line of some type of hardware that would either bolt to the stays or the seat tube.

This would be the cheapest way, a pair of these stay clips for a rack or fender (http://www.loosescrews.com/index.cgi?d=single&c=Accessories&sc=Rack%20Clamps&tc=&item_id=LS-2621KR&id=83558420436) and fabricate a piece to bridge across the two clamps. Or from Nashbar (http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?category=112&subcategory=1079&brand=&sku=7587&storetype=&estoreid=&pagename=Shop%20by%20Subcat%3A%20Racks), or from Speedgoat (http://www.speedgoat.com/product.asp?part=114274&cat=10&brand=70)

Rocky has the right idea. I did this as well. Fabricating the cross piece gave me an excuse to get out the right angle grinder, drill, file, and two beers.

You might look in hardware stores for a tube clamp or bracket that is the right diameter for the stay. Some are even made of plastic so they won't mark up the frame.

I second the hardware store bits bin idea. Should be able to find something professional looking that you can bolt on to the fender, something like a clamp to hold the thin water tubing on fancy schmancy bathroom sinks, and maybe some kind of plastic bushing to take up any spare room.

Another crazy idea I just had is clips that hold down automotive hood prop rods. My last truck had white plastic ones that broke off and rattled, but they survived in the truck for 10 years...probably too small of a diameter, but I remember seeing other clips of that sort under the hood for various things...

Oh, and we used these little wire clamps (sorry, name escapes me) to tack down coax cable into the corner of my wall, maybe a large one of those bolted to the fender. Kinda looked like the things used to hold down copper plumbing pipe _( )_ nice little white plastic...
