I'm a Chicago native currently living in the San Jose area. I'm planning a trip back to Chicago in the near future to see some friends and go for a ride on the trails I grew up on - but I don't want to hassle with shipping / flying a bike from SF to Chicago.

Anyone know of any shops in the northern suburbs of Chicago or Kettle Moraine area that would rent/demo a bike for a couple days? I'm looking for a XC Dual Suspension rig, something like a Santa Cruz Superlight.

Thanks for the help, enjoy the ride.

kozy's started the specialized test program. you can test ride a full suspension for the weekend for around $100.

Thank you! I can't believe I forgot about Kozy's. I was trying to remember if RRB did test bikes. I've been to Backyard many times, but forgot their name. I'll have to give all three of these places a call/email for availability. At least I have a little time before I'm scheduled to travel.

Okay dude,

Here is the deal. The southern kettle is my old stomping grounds. I used to work in chicago, and would run up there any chance I got to do some riding... as far as I am concerned, the kettle is the ONLY place to ride in the chicago land area.... Have some great memories of knocking off work at 2, riding up there for a nice 10 miler before it got dark, then driving back home exhausted.

Hit up the general store in La Grange... they have a bike shop attached to it, and they rent some pretty high end stuff... I know they used to rent kleins, and, the shop is right at the entrance to the park.

Make sure to check out the store as well. Best turkey sandwich in the tristate area. They also sell a kick ass micro brew called New Glarus. Their copper kettle ale is killer.

Good luck,

Mick

Sorry man, I totally jumped the gun... I hadn't seen the post above.
