Roof box recommendation?

I need a roof box to put my bike in for a long car trip. The obvious choices seem to be Thule and Yakima. Has anyone had experience with either? I’m especially interested in whether they’ll mar the finish of the car.

When I worked in industry, they were both made in the same factory near Chicago, not sure now. They are so similar that you should choose on the features that you like best. Properly intalled, they sit on the crossbars and shouldn't touch the roof.
Even if your car doesn't have rain gutters over the windows? What else would it mount on?

If you have no rain gutters you will likely need to get a setup that latches to the door frame or see about a factory rack. Both thule and yakima make setups for these situations. Yakima calls them Qtowers, check out their website(http://www.yakima.com). I am ordering a yakima setup, the major reason, my lbs sells more and i get better pricing.
