Can a hub that uses a quick release, like a Bontranger rear hub, be bolted on instead? Looking at bidding on some Bontranger wheels on ebay for my 29er SS build, but they use qr's. Need to know if I could just bolt them to the track ends?

Yes,you need axle rods or some other type of bolt on skewer (http://www.nashbar.com/profile_moreimages.cfm?category=135&subcategory=1175&sku=8197&brand=) along with a tug nut(preferably two) If you run tugs on both sides you should get extra long bolt on skewers made for a tandem bike.
