Trying to decide what headset to get for my KM build. Looking hard at the Chris King, but Cane Creek and WTB definitely make some less expensive ones. Anybody got any suggestions?
I've got several years of rigid riding into a Cane Creek that's now on my Soma Juice. I'd like a King, but can't justify the price differential over the Cane Creek.

Cane Creek. The S6 or S8 (or whatever they call them) are excellent. Have the headtube faced and the CC should last a long time.
Another vote for Cane Creek. I also have a FSA the Pig on my 1x1 that's been just fine (a little overkill maybe).

the same headset for a ridged 26er or a full squish 26er...

I think that a headset on a rigid would take more abuse than on a squishy fork bike. 26/29 not such a difference.

That is what I have been thinking. I'm 240lbs so after looking at how cheap the FSA the Pig headset was, I went ahead and got one off ebay. Thanks for all the input.:)

I run Cane Creek on most everything, but I do have an FSA on my road bike.
The FSA is nice because the crown race is split and doesn't require a tool to get it on or off, which is nice for forks with wide crowns or carbon forks...

i purchased a CK in the days of elastomer forks and rear ends for the proflex, in those days there was no threadless system..then CK brought out a threadless adapter..its still going strong on the misfit.

the pig will do you well.
in the end the bearings take the majority of the beating...sure kings are purtay but i cant justify (afford) the price...if the bearings are sealed and i can find replacements...its go time.
my choice has been the S2/S3 but S6/S8's are nice if you have a few more pennies.
