why i ride in.
ok ok, i know it is the excercise, good of the environment, fresh air, stress releiver blah blah blah.. but when you have a 'helpful' motorist offer advice at a light at 6AM [after you have been on the road for 45 min in the rain] it makes you question ya know?
this morning a woman informed me i need one for refelctor on my back - well for the record i have 3 on my messenger bag, a strobing green LED [red they seem to miss] plus reflective shoes, jersey and strip hanging down off my back seat.
if you can't see allllllll that, perhaps you shouldn't drive before sun up?
thanks for letting a brother vent, it is just the straw that broke the camels back this morning...

Have you considered trying the big orange reflective triangle that tractors use? Remember all those silly orange 7 foot tall flags? Maybe you should have four of those. I remember a guy in my hometown even had one on his Triumph TR7 as if to say please notice me in my butt ugly p.o.s. British sports car with a tractor engine. Hmmm...it comes back to tractors. There is a guy who rides on the road I drive to work every day. He rides a Huffy style bike with no reflectors, no lights, and he wears dark clothing. I stopped riding the same route because of so many close calls even though I was well lit and reflected. I think people are so used to him that they expect him and are aware that he is lurking along the shoulder somewhere. Bike lanes and bike trails would eliminate so much of this, think about that as you head to the polls tomorrow.

Don't forget about putting those reflectors back on your spokes, and that little white pole with the orange flag on the top to boot;)

I didn't take the reflectors off my wheels when I got my bike. They help.

wrap the whole frame in dayglo orange, and wear hunting gear for your commute...maybe that'll get some coma-head's attention @ 6am. no? not worth it to me, either. 'F' 'em all.
