Any good suggestions for on/off road conventional tires?
Thanks,

Your question is too vague.
Do you ride a century on the road and then 100 yards of smooth fireroad, or do you ride a mile of road and then 100 miles of rough rooty single-track?
Oh and 26" or 700c?

With no more info it's a hard question to answer.

pardon me,
this is for a setup in which I ride almost half on pavement and maybe the other half off road... sort of loose over hard-pack to loose soil with intermittent rooted/rocky single-track. My urban wheelset is near mangled (badly bent rims) so I am trying to combine two wheelsets into one for right now. But the thing is that I am trying to avoid tires less than 2.3in wide as well as semi-slicks for I appreciate moderate lugs/tread that can take a beating through town and off the beaten path.
I am riding 26in standard wheels with like a 30 or 31mm wide rim, the Sun-Ringle' Singletrack.
Thanks again,
Me

Maxxis Holy Rollers........period. Good for all but mud and wet leaves on mud. 2.4's and they will take anything you can dish out. The tread pattern is inverted so they roll pretty fast for such a big heavy tire.

The Specialized Crossroad EX tire would be my pick for a 50/50 tire. They make it in many different flavors also, 26", 700c, regular casing, amidillo(sp) casing, etc...
