Anyone know if I can put large marge rims and endomoph tires on my surly 1x1? I've already cut the brake tabs off (mostly for looks, but also in hopes of pugsley wheels fitting). I saw somewhere that a guy did it, but it had a disclaimer that said "some modification required". I don't know exactly what the means. I already tried calling Surly, but all those guys are at Sea Otter.

You can run the Marge's sans bosses...but no endomorphs...just 3.0 Gazz'z.

A Pugsley Frame and Fork retails for around $600 and a frame set is on Ebay for $550 right now.

While I applaud the idea of you using an existing 1x1 frame, with the modifications mentioned, welding, bending etc. you might be better off just coughing up for a Pugsley.....and I am biased on this as it is the most fun bike I have ever had. Plus that way you can run two types of hubs one on the front and one on the back; my set up right now is a regular cassette/hub on the back but a SS hub/cog on the front so if I ever feel in an insane mood I can turn the Pugs into a SS pretty quickly although technically it would be a 2x1 in that set up.

I was wondering if you are replacing the front fork on your 1x1 with a Pugsley one, as both my Large Marge rims are built onto rear hubs due to the Pugsley set up....I did not know you could actually build a Large Marge/Endormorph wheel on a front hub.

Scott, I don't really want to get a new frame, I was just hoping that I could get large marge/endomorph wheels. I don't know if you can build it up on a front hub. I can't imagine why you couldn't, but I don't know for sure.
I've kinda given up on the idea anyway.:(
