View Full Version : Can A Chain Be Anodized?

I'm on a new kick where I like certain components (grips, saddle, fork, etc.) to match in color. I was wondering if a bicycle chain can be anodized to match other components. In the very least, it would add more color to an otherwise bland area of a bike. Thanks for any info.

Nope, can't annodize steel. You can buy coloured bmx chains though.

Red, blue & black Wippermann's on there, too.

Personally, I like my chain a shade of gunky SoCal Trail Dust 'n Boeshield, myssself. ;)

KMC makes red, blue, pink, purple, gold, and black. They're BRIGHT, and look pretty good (I've got a gold one to match the accents on my white fixie, and a red one to match the accents on my gold singlespeed mountain bike. Caveat: they're BMX chains, meaning singlespeed and track pitch only.

the pitch is the same across all chains, it's the width that's different ;)
