I Have One Of The Early Mono-cogs The Black Frame With The Red Decals
Question For You All On The Hub
Can The Rear Be Persuaded To Fit A Regular Mtb Hub
I Just Want To Get A New Rear Wheel And Forget About All This Headache Finding A Bmx Spaced Rear Wheel For This
I Am Sure That This Has Been Answered Before So Forgive My Ignorance

Unfortunately, the rear spacin on those is 110 and regular rear wheel spacing is 135. Being that the frame is 4130 it MIGHT withstand spreading 25mm but maybe not.

Hey, you could put a 24inch wheel in the back and creat a 46er or would that be a 64er?!

I've got the same bike, it's what I raced on the GDR. I spread mine to 135 spacing at the shop where I worked. I used one of the big Park frame levers and then made sure the rear dropouts where square with park alignment deally. It was easy, probably took a grand total of 15 minutes. And the ability to run a 135 wheel did save my butt.

I have the same frame you speak of, I would recomend NOT spreading the frame.
There is a plethora of 110 spaced hubs out there.

I'm running Shimano DX bmx hubs.

profileracing has awesome 110 spaced hubs.

get creative, find a bmx hub you really like and build a wheel

Be aware: The narrow spaced frames are not chumpy. They hate fish and smell like chicken noodle soup when they sweat.
I know, I'm a medical doctor.

I have the same frame and have been looking for a disc compatible 110mm rear hub. What options are out there?

seems to me like BMX hubs would be the way to go anyway - most of them are made for jumping/hard riding.

if weight is a concern you could go with a racing bmx hub such as the profile racing hub.

maybe i need to find an old mono to build ..

Thats a simple fix, ATOM LAB sells a disc kit for
flip flop BMX hubs, The disc mount threads on to the non drive side of the hub.

You say your Monocog is black w/ red decals, right? Is it the 30th anniversary edition of Redline? If so, then do whats been said already, go BMX. There are disc-BMX hubs (Profile, King, Roper, Phil, etc..) out there. In addition, try some old BMX Araya or Ukai rims to help with the 30th theme. That's what i'm doing with mine. The ride is great. Seriously, how much jumping are you really doing.
