I am trying to get my hands on one of these 69ers but not sure how they ride? Any thoughts?

of course, I'm now a paid endorser of all Trek products, but I was extremely happy with my one-off Beast of the Burgh design. After falling in love with my own creation, I always wondered what a bike built from the ground-up with the 69er platform in mind would feel like.
I gotta say it's sweet. The line that keeps coming up is "race bike fast, trail bike confident."
You'll run into 2 big naysayers out here in internet-land whose pseduonyms I'm sure you'll recognize.
My advice to you is to find where Trek's demo tour is setting up near you (ridethebesttour.com) and judge for yourself.

I'm waiting for someone to part one out--I want that reduced-travel, rootbeer colored Maverick fork for my Vulture.

The Trek 69er is one of the coolest looking bikes I have ever seen. Whoever designed the look should get a raise. Bought a Redline Monocog 29er though (from your ex-boss in Orrville). It's a money thing.

So if I am understanding you correctly you are saying that 29ers are slow so the 26 inch rear wheel makes it faster and the 29 inch wheel is slow so it makes it handle better like a trail bike. Talk about one big band-aid. :D

Why stop at 29, tho? Here's my solution, the 6669er....
Looked at one yesterday. Nice bike, nice spec, cool looking. The sales guy on the other hand....................had ALL the buzzwords down pat"SS, 29er front wheel, check out the discsblablabla"
This was at a large sports store. Now that 29er and SS bikes are out there for the hacks to schlep I do see them gaining more inroads.
Not condemming the bike, just the bandwagon.........
