So what he's saying is we should ride in drag? Good, I'm glad that cat is out of the bag. I've been wanting to but thought it...you know...sort of a taboo.

Doesn't help. Not in this Podunk little shithole of a town, anyway. Trust me.

Flawed study. Correlation does not equal causation and all that. Perhaps the helmeted cyclists are logging far more miles than their bare-headed brethren, thus increasing their exposure to cars.

Swerve alot, look at the drivers, and spit frequently over your left shoulder....Or attach a 1/4" x 3' fiberglass rod with a sheet metal screw on the end to your rack/frame, make sure it sticks out into the lane....If your conscience objects put a little flag on it.

Too much wind around here for a wig and dress! Pumps and high heels with cleats might say something interesting though!

I blow a lot of snot rockets. I'd like to think that helps.

It's a thrill when you can comb the side of cars like you're riding a wave.

oh it helps, particularly during rush-whore when you can see the same cars back and forth for several km's...they take note (are appropriately offended) and give a wide berth.

chewing up more then just the shoulder helps when the traffic isnt jammed up too...sure they are pissed, but at least they have to 'deal' with you. when you are shoulder bound somehow it is 'your' responsibility to avoid 'them'.

I find that it's absolutely vital on my commute to take enough of my lane to make the people have to cope with me. If they think they can squeeze past, they're gonna try, and sideview mirrors hurt like hell!

I have to be honest, though. The only time I've gotten negative comments (that I could hear), it involved a 2:00 am ride, a BIG suv and about six drunk fratboy/jocks.

On the other hand, it's pretty cool to stand up for a sprint and hear "nice ass!" from the Pretty Young Thing coming up behind you...
