XTR Shifter/brake levers

Has anyone used the new 2003 XTR shifter/brake levers? What are your thoughts?

My thoughts are that if you are not racing, the expense completely negates any possible advantage.

i'd stay away from the combos. if one thing brakes, you have to replace the shifter AND the brake. more expensive. if you're not hard on your stuff, i guess they're not bad.

I actually think they are a good combo, but it certainly is a matter of preference as everything else in the bike world. I have kept the thumb part of the shifter combo on, as a feel the shifting into a lower gear still is faster than trying to manipulate the brake lever up.....I often find myself in too high a gear going into a hill situation.:D
