Anyone out there with a greater understanding than my B.S. know what the end product of asparagus metabolism is that causes that incredible aroma in ones urine? You all know the one...smells like a rotting piece of wood.
Inquiring minds wanna know.

I've really gotta start thinking through my dilemmas 1st.
At least my organic chemistry course-work was good enough for me to understand what those two pieces meant.
I'm voting for the thioesters. Methanethiol has way too "eggy" an odor. Think odorant of natural gas and propane (those use ethyl mercaptan or ethanethiol).
T'anks for the info.

I ask Google everything. It always answers. With something. Including nice pictures.

I'll say this...birthdays and anniversaries don't happen often enough in the year to make that a real concern.
