Little shit was dragging an aspen tree across the bike path and didn't see me coming. I came around the curve and just missed the little dude. Those things are pretty fast when spooked. Hope he comes back and gets his damn tree off the bike path. I got to say it is now the weirdest animal I've ever had a close encounter with on the trail. Before that it was a pine martin. Kinda cool. I've seen a lot of critters on trails, but you don't generally expect to see a beaver on a paved bike path.

You know what AM Radio--I don't like you, but that was funny.
(Nothing personal OTBSkinloss, just thought it was funny. Some not so good things happened today and I needed a laugh.)

Don't worry. AM Radio shot off my main sail in a surprise attack long ago. Nothing new here. I didn't say he wasn't funny; I just said I don't like him.

If you do hit it, eat it. I hear the tail, roasted over the coals of an open fire, was considered a delicacy by the native americans and fur trappers alike.

You're lucky OTB. During the Pleistocene North America had 8 foot long beavers with 6 inch teeth...megafauna indeed.

The skeleton in the pic your link leads to is clearly a ROUS, from the fire swamp!
