Anybody know how to ride a unicycle? I have one my wife gave me a few years ago and I have never learned to ride it. Was looking at it hanging up in the shed today and thinking I should give it a try again. Just wondering if anyone actually has any tips on learning to ride one?

Think really, really round, even pressure through the pedal stroke. Start out against a wall (or better yet, in a hallway). Also, have some ice ready for the inside of your shin/calf, where it's going to hit you in the same spot over and over when you bail to the front.

I learned to ride when I was about 6 or 7. My advice, is to start young. :D
I started out, by holding onto the pole that supported out TV antenna(am I giving away my age with that or what?), and pedaling across our patio to the pole for the BB hoop. Get comfortable and lean forward, then pedal your butt off until you fall off. Repeat as necessary, until you can make it all the way across and grab the other pole. Turn around and do it again. When you feel like you want to try to get on without holding on to anything, start with the pedals at 3 & 9, put one foot up, put the seat under your junk, and jump. Try not to put any pressure on the pedals until you have both feet on, or you'll need the above mentioned ice.
Good luck.
