After reading the advice from forum members I have decided to buy a Surly Steamroller. I now have a question about sizing.

Using the formula of inseam x 0.67 I got a bike size suggestion of 57.5 cm. The Steamroller comes in 56 cm and 59 cm. Do I round up or round down? I've never purchased a new road bike before.

Oh yeah, I'm 6 foot 1. If that helps.

The bigger concern is top-tube length. While you obviously need enough stand-over clearance, you don't want to end up running an incredibly short stem (and screwing up the handling) to get a decent fit. Best option: find a local shop that's got them in stock (or a bike with the same geometry) and go from there.

BTW--if I had to guess of of your height, it will probably be the 59, assuming you're not strangely proportioned.

The top tube lengths for the two sizes are:

568.0mm

587.0mm

I too would guess at the 59 being better for you. Go ride them both.
