I was given a Garmin Legend CX for Fathers Day. After some shopping around I decided on the Delorme Topo USA software. This software was recommended to me by a sales person at REI. Well at this point I am getting frustrated with the whole thing. I cant seem to get the software to recognize my GPS. I know that Garmin has made it difficult to work with anybody but Garmin when it comes to software. Does anybody have any advice? Again I have already purchased this software but was told by REI that I can return it if it doesnt work. I cant return the GPS so any software I get will have to work with that piece of hardware. I'm interested in creating and sharing maps of places I have ridden.

Thanks!

I use the Garmin Mapsource software. I got mine at PC nation for around 80 bucks. You can also download your tracks & waypoints on to Google Earth if you have the pay version.

Dont use delorme maps they suck. Go with the topo maps either dvd or the micro sd card just pop them in and instant map. I have the venture cx with the topo 08 maps 80 bucks for the sd card and it works awesome real up to date stuff...

If you are a Windows person, give TopoFusion a try:
http://www.topofusion.com

Very slick app. Pulls all maps from map servers.
