Ok, so another thread brought this to my rambling mind, but ....

So I was looking online at the Bianchi San Jose (http://www.bianchiusa.com/06_san_jose.html) and thinking, man, for less than $600 bucks this would make a great swiss army bike! But It doesn't say anything about it being fixed, other than some pointed remarks at hipsters (hey, I'm not complaining :p ) Anyway, is it a flip-flop hub, or just a SS freewheel? I know that hubs are a great place to skimp when building a bike, so it would probably be worthwile to upgrade them anyway, but then the bike starts to not seem like such a bargain ...

Just from reading that write up on Bianci's website, I would say it is just a freewheel hub. I think they would advertise it if it had a flip flop hub.

During this model year there are both freewheel only and flip/flop.

I rode my buddies San Jose fixed and it was pretty great for an inexpensive bike.

My brother's been riding one for ~ 6 months and likes it a lot. His is fixed/free. A couple of guys at the LBS are riding the piss out of them as well.
