My shop just got in the new Specialized catalog. Much to my delight they are selling frame only stumpy Hardtail in the 29 version (m5) WITH SLIDING REAR DROPOUTS to run SS I cant wait. retail for about $900

$900 seems kind of steep for a mass produced hardtail frame.

or you could get the rockhopper disk 29er complete for $830 and have a similar frame with different seatstays and made of M4 alloy instead of M5. plus have tons of parts to use or sell on the forums.
