Is anyone using these platform, bmx type pedals on their ss rig? Is this mainly a freeride, bmx thing? I see there are many higher quality, higher $$ platforms available in the mtb sales mags so they must be used somewhere in the mtb world. Can someone recommend a good pair? Pins or no pins? Thanks.

I normally use Shimano XTR SPD pedals on my XC bikes, but use platforms on my BMX, 4X and freeride bikes.
The Wellgo MG1 pedals get my vote right now. Very grippy, look good and lightweight (for a platform pedal) too.

Thanks, I'll check out the MG1's. I also ran across these. Looks a bit different . . .

I just switched my commuters from clipless to flats. I got tired of hearing the "Why do your shoes make that noise on the sidewalk" comments, and of riding clipless in the wrong shoes. Now its hop on with flip-flops (at your own risk) and go. But yeah, for my SS and fixies, I still go clipless. I might get some hybrid pedals someday, but not right now.
