5 days till the big dh race!

Hey guys we just wanted to get everyone an update for our upcoming "Whiteface 2nd annual 5 K Downhill Race" this Sunday September 2nd at noon.

* Yes we moved the start time up 1 hour to allow for an open practice on Sunday from 10:00 am till 11:45 am.

* For spectators there is a $5.00 discount on Sunday only if you want to ride the gondola to walk down the course. To get your coupon needed for your $5.00 discount please visit: www.downhillmike.com .

* The race course is officially taped from top to bottom and the course is open for practice daily from 10:00 am till 4:00 pm and on Sunday (race day) from 10:00 am till 11:45 am.

* Online registration closes on Saturday September 1st at 9:00 pm e.s.t.

* We will be set up at the mountain for on site registration from 8:00 am till 5:00 pm on Saturday September 1st and from 8:00 am till 10:00 am on Sunday September 2nd.

* Saturday September 1st is also our 3rd ladies days of this season. On ladies days all women receive a free lift ticket valued at $32.00.

Lake Placid has tons for the non bikers and the forecast for the Friday thru Monday is stellar.
The temp will be an awesome 74 degrees outside.

Stuff for the non bikers in Lake Placid:

How about a 30 foot cliff diving spot at the end of the trails?

hiking, horseback riding, water skiing, golf (5 courses in town), relaxing by a lake, fine dining (many choices), a really nice main street, backpacking, shopping, bob sled or luge ride, watch aerealist train at the jumping complex, visit several Olympic attractions, museum, movies, swimming, scenic airplane ride, scenic sea plane ride, drive the memorial hwy to the top of Whiteface Mountain, watch the race from the upper mountain (with a discounted lift ticket), ice skating (inside of course), float down the Ausable river in a tube at Ausable Chasm, canoeing, kayaking and much much more.

I just noted some of things they could do off the top of my head.

Lake Placid is a summer resort area with at least 10 times more people and things to do in the summer than the winter.

When I moved here from Buffalo I thought L.P. was a winter destination. Winters are quiet around these parts. Summers are non stop, action packed fun.
