If he lets me ,I'll speak for the Budgie-he's 44,i'm 43 we've been ssing(racing) for 5+ years now,I still have a selection of geared bikes but race xc only on the ss(except for the 100km race we will be doing the day before we leave for Kensas:eek:)I don't really think age has much to do with it ,we just couldn't be stuffed with all that cable stretch and tuning of gears and sh!t,ssing is enjoyed by young and old alike so I believe it's the gearies that are the weirdo's and us ssers that are as close to "normal!!" as you will get a mtber!!!

Wow, at 41 I guess I'm the baby here then. And to think, I may have been the oldest. I feel that one matures into a SS.

What is the deal with this nose hair, ear hair, and eyebrow growth? It stops growing on yer loaf but sprouts elsewhere! I built my first SS at 49, by the way.

My theory is that we were all brought up on singlespeeds and to make ourselves feel young again, we are reverting to our childhood bicycles. Deep eh?

I wasn't feelin' to young last night. I was on my regular Thursday night ride--this week it was all singlespeeds. My lungs and legs were on fire. I endoed over a log pile:eek:but somehow managed not to land on my head. All that kept me going was knowing that there were delicious pints of IPA at the end of the ride.

I have a theory about that too. I figure everyone has a certain amount of hair that's gonna find it way outta somewhere. If you shave a part of your body, the hair's gonna come out somewhere else. Hair will find a way.

Bring it on brother! The frankenbike won't take a track cog, but the Surly will. I'm there as long as there's beer involved.:D

Bull hockey.

Ok, I suppose I could put a track cog on my lawnmower if I were so inclined. Let me rephrase: My singlespeed road bike has a converted Campy rear freehub. I suppose I could either put a rear hub on it that would accept a track cog or disable the freewheeling mechanism of the hub. On the other hand, my Surly will readily accept a track cog so why bother?

It's the body's way to stave off infection as our immune systems degrade. More nose hairs to filter out the bad air molecules & the other to keep the ear weevils out of the canal.

I'm only 35, so I got you beat, Mo0se... but my lower back still feels older than Davkatreb's since last Saturday.
