So I'm in the process of divorce and one of the several things I've had to separate is my auto insurance. It turns out that this is a good thing, and sometimes, the establishment seems to understand, and maybe even work in our benefit. Or maybe its just a sunny day and I had a good ride to school, but whatever the case ... I was able to insure my car as "secondary transportation". This was the case while I was married, but I somehow suspected that this was because we had one vehicle insured as primary transportation. I had my doubts that they would actually believe that someone could get through life without being totally dependent on a car. I can't seem to find the specifics on their website, but I seem to remember the criterion being that the car was driven to school/work less than three time a week (I could be wrong on that number), and that it was driven less than 4000 miles a year. Well, I use my car for grocery shopping, trips out of town, and carrying lots of stuff, not to drag my ass places I could walk or ride. Anyway, I think it rocks that a large company is ready to give me a break for riding my bike :D

How about yinz, secondary transportation, related experieinces?

Yep, Mine is a recreational vehicle. I log less than 5k miles a year. I ride a bike or a motorcycle almost everywhere almost year round.

yep, mine too. insured as "pleasure" instead of "all purpose". I can't take it to work more than 4 times a month (not that they'd ever know unless you got into an accident).

Don't remember the exact classification but I have mine covered for less than 4,000 per year. Helped a good bit with the cost and didn't get any flack for stating I ride to work most days.

I think you would have to get into 5 accidents on your way to work in one month. :D
