So I rode my bike to work everyday(only a mile)rain, wind or 95 degrees for 10.5 weeks. Every day. Then I built a Niner, fell in love with it and haven't ridden to work in two weeks and can't get the motivation to do it...The worst part is it's been beautiful for those two weeks. Is this like a Dear Abbey forum? Help.

Man this is going to a horrible punny cliche, but just accept that it has been a couple of days and get back on that bike. You aren't getting paid to ride and the world won't end. Lots of riders need a break or to do something different. Its cool.

Maybe you need to build a new bike to commute on that's as nice or nicer than the Niner?

Just throwin' it out there. If your working habit can support it, a new bike habit is probably not a bad habit to have.

Variety is the spice of life, some say. Pick a different route to work. Perhaps one with a bit more distance, some interesting scenery, or involving a pit stop for a cuppa Joe? Mix it up.

I envy your situation. If only it was my mind keeping me off the bike. Get off your butt and ride. You'll feel better.

i went through the exact same thing a few months ago. KMan is right, mix it up and make it fun. i switched from a geared fast roadbike to a slowpoke SS mtn bike, took a different route and stopped for fresh spinach pies enroute. Variety keeps it fun.
Picking a different route definately helps and make sure you have your ipod:p

Thanks to all for all of the good words/advice. I guess what it boils down to is: I gotta get off my butt and just start riding in. It doesn't hurt that today at the dump in all it's glory, perched there on it's kickstand ,was a sweet, sky blue, lugged(chrome)Botecchia future single speed commuter....thanks again.

Well there you go, you build a new bike and suddenly its a blast to ride to work again. Works like a charm :D
Now give us the dirt, what's the build?

That's too funny. I was suffering from a hodge-podge mish-mash of bikes that I've had for several years. Had 7 in all. Wife not happy about it. Sold four, bought two. Trying to get rid of one more.
One of the two I bought was a Casseroll. All 105, but an XT rear der and D/A bar-cons. I freaking love it. Full fenders and a rack, a Brooks saddle that came off my dad's 1970's era Peugeot PX-10.
Been riding it to work nearly every day since I built it a couple months ago. Riding the entire length of the KATY trail on it the last weekend of September, too.
