Who's bringing Phillander?
I was out shopping today and bought everyone emergency rain ponchos. I could not find a threaded one for dave to screw a cog on to.
This weekend will be too mild for copperheads to come out.

I doubt I will be able to camp but want to come enjoy the rides and hang out some. Anyone know when the rides are planned? Anyone bringing significant others/kids?

I was thinking of bringing the kiddo and my wife but she is afraid that it'll be her sitting in a campsite trying to watch the kid and keep him from picking up rattlesnakes and bugs while dad plays all day.

Although she likes camping and such the idea of herding the child in the woods is a little bit of a turn-off. We tried to find a sitter but no luck. I think she is gonna sit this one out. She said wouldn't ride much anyway as the last time we were at Clinton (a few months ago) the trails were a little too technical for her -she is at heart a commuter/utilitarian cyclist and doesn't ride trail very often. This effectively kills any prospect of trading riding/monkey training time between the two of us.

If others are bringing their monkeys perhaps we will bring ours though.

Vlad/eatindirt,

I'm not bringing the fam out due to the chiggers & such. My wife's not that technical of a rider, & keeping the children entertained could be a challenge. I promised them a Katy trail trip in early October with non-tent accomodations in Rocheport ;)...

As far as the collegiate race, someone posted on the Earthriders site that it would be the far west area of trail, so the middle section where we plan to camp (campground 1; eastern portion) should be fine to ride for the few hours they are racing. I hear there's a skills area over to the west end, so that might be sectioned off during the race, but not sure.

Weather looks great! Come on out, people. Look for a "Schleptemberfest" sign that I have yet to create...

My wife definitely won't ride and the rugrat is only 5 months, but I was thinking about having her come out in the evening for the campfire festivities. She won't be too mad if I leave her home though :p

Dirty Boy,

Things just would not be the same if you were not there. Hopefully you can at least come for the single track.

No, they did not bury me, though there is a period of time which I remember mistily, with a shuddering wonder, like a passage through some inconceivable world that had no hope in it and no desire.

and vladimunchkin there will be no wavering. i am getting on a plane just so that we can join forces, remotely access the politics thread and right the wrongs of this evil world...

I'm helping to organize the KU race.

Yes, there will be a Collegiate Race hosted by KU this coming weekend. The events will be held at campground #3.

The XC race begins at noon on Saturday. The course will be an open course - so if you see a couple kids in spandex and number plates please allow them to pass and continue on.

Sunday there is a short-track race which will not involve the trails, so no worries there.

I'll be camped out all weekend at campground #3 and hope to meet all of you.

Cheers,

Josh

I guess if 2 aussies and some northern neighbors can get their arses down here for this event then every local should sacrifice a bit as well. As much as it pains me I will be missing work on Friday to ride and camp that night. Any idea when the riding will begin?

Good job on the weather Myron. I guess when you put your order in in January then you pretty much get your pick eh?
