I was wondering, am I the only one here who appreciates hybrids. I have a Trek 7300 which I ride to work and all other pooints, it's my only ride. A week ago I took a long cruise which had me on pavement and going over single track and places I had no busines being and back on pavement. Being an old mountain biker I know that my old mountain bikes which I had years ago would've torn up the single track, but the 7300 did alright. On the pavement, it does well, I don't race and i don't have a computer on it but by the bikes I pass, I do alright, and the ones I get passed by, I could be faster on a full bore road bike but forget about any single track. The only true weakness I've found is it doesn't do well in deep mud, hence the reason I'll get a mtn. bike next year. As an only bike, I think Hybrids are the best. I'm curious as to what others think.

I've rode around town for years on a junker. Then bought a hybrid for trails and logging roads. Within a year we were more into trails that we thought we would be. However, we took those $360 bikes even on the McKenzie trail - had a blast. It's all in your approach I think. But I sure like my newer bike better and you will too.

I say ride what you got - it will work fine just aproach it reasonably.
