Talked to my LBS and I got a pair of Mavic Crossride Disc wheels and I put a Maxxis High Roller on the back and a Specialized Fast Track up front. Just picked it up today and I can't wait to go out tomorrow afternoon after work and give a good first ride in Fairmount park :)

The CrossRide's look like nice wheels. Congrats!
I've got my eye on those as well!
Have you nocited a difference in the way the bike performs or feels?
I'm interested in the High Roller also, how do like that?
I've got a set of 2.0 Fast Traks on my bike now.....want something with more grip, less slip, more cushion and traction...x susp...so do you like the High Roller/Fast Trak combo?
....you put the fast trak in the front and the highroller in the back...interesting....what was the thinking there?
..what sizes are your tires?
common practice seems to be to put the larger grippier tire in front and the smaller faster tire in rear.
just curious

ugh, friggin work, havn't gotten out yet. The guy at the shop thought that the tire up front allthough smaller (2.2) and the high roller in the back is 2.3 it will corner better then having highroller up front too. we'll see. i'm just excited to have a nice upgrade :)

yes awesome!
I'm looking foward to a nice upgrade soon too.
Everyone says tires makes the biggest difference...
and traction and cushion seem to be what I need.
You can always switch the tires later....
try it both ways and see which feels better.
My gut says swap 'em.;)

he's wrong. at least in my opinion. I'd switch it. that's conventional wisdom: wider tire up front for better cornering.
right?
those wheels are a nice upgrade though, nice one.

Just because it's bigger doesn't mean you will have better cornering traction. The Fast Trak has more tread on it, so it'll bite in better. The smoother tire in the rear will have it roll faster (even though it is a little bigger).

my view of tire choice front and rear is the knobier tire in the back for climbing traction.
ive also noticed alot of companies putting kenda blue groove in the front and nevengal in the back. which is how i view things.
my race bike has fast trax and i love em to death.

Finally got to try em out. The roll so much nicer then my other ones and for some reason now I have all of a sudden been able to do small bunny hops. Before I left my house I ended up switching the tires and put the bigger one up front. That high roller hooks up BEAUTIFULLY, however the fast track not so much. whenever it got kinda loose it had no bite at all. I wanna get another high roller and then I'll really be rockin'. Plus now I have a lot more confidence descending with them cause I like the wider tires :)
