The Wilderness 101 is upon us: 101 off-road miles.

While I haven't been training like I should, I've been mentally preparing myself for the past three months. If you live within reasonable driving distance, this event is worth coming to check out, to volunteer for, or just to hang out.

It was truly one of the more challenging experiences of my life—but this year, I'm just aiming to not get nudged out of the finish by Debi Sheets—the most hardcore woman I know.

So, is anyone planning on attending?

I'll be there. I'll probably the only person running a rear rack with a pannier! I raced last year and thought it was a well run event. The weather outlook for Saturday is looking pretty good...

THE MID 50S. WEST WINDS 5 TO 10 MPH.
.FRIDAY...MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGHS IN THE LOWER 80S.
.FRIDAY NIGHT...MOSTLY CLEAR. LOWS IN THE LOWER 60S.
.SATURDAY...MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGHS IN THE MID 80S.

I'm not so sure that mental training will have any tangible benefits over physical training. ;-)

The single speeders impress me. Those guys are hardcore!

Good luck!

I would very much like to take part. I have plenty of dumb excuses for not going, such as not traing, no bike suited to that kind of race and a few more.

But it all comes down to: I don't have $120 to spend on race entry fees. If I'm not busy I may come up to watch, I'm not that far away.

Good luck.
