I rode the Mountain Tire Mind Poker ride last weekend near Belfair WA.
Dirt Rag was mentioned 3 times and thanked for their support of the event. They didn't say what Dirt Rag did but they were mentioned.
The ride was well attended and lots of fun.
I appreciate a ride that does not only reward the fastest. Sometimes just finishing is a chllange.
However two sixes for a poker hand gets you a fun ride and that's it.
Anybody else ever hear the name Dirt Rag unexpectedly?

Last Tuesday. A friend mentioned that he was trying out the tire he had gotten from DR for resubscribing. He had gotten the tire a while ago, some kind of promotion??? He was pretty happy with it's performance.

cool.... I walked into the LBS and right by the door was a large display and across the top was Dirt Rag. It was a product review station and they had reviews from DR prominently displayed.
Interesting I thought.

Yep, we often give away tires on the Dirt Rag World Tour (http://www.dirtragmag.com/features/worldtour/index.php) as subscription premiums. Sometimes we give away cans of sports drink, shirts from our sponsors, etc.

How can I get something for free when I renew my subscription?
Also, I was wondering if I could purchase DR items directly from the source, thus avoiding shipping costs. I need some socks and one of them there fancy flame chainstay protectors.

Funny Story
Last week we finally finished a field exercise that lasted a little over a month. We finally get everything together and moved into the cantonment area (essentially civilization, you know, roof, hot water, beds, real coffee, and good beer and scotch) Anyway, I took out my old bastard hybrid that started life as a Raleigh something or other more than ten years ago. it's light enough that I can stash it on a C-130 without some loadmaster freaking out....
I throw on my helmet and start to ride off the base to find a decent trail when I am stopped by one the biggest, meanest looking First Sergeants I have seen in my 12 year career. For the uninitiated, a First sergeant is the senior NCO of a company and by the average soldier is equated to the Pope in terms of hierarchical importance. So this guy asks me "What the @##@! kind of &!^%$# bike is that?" I explain that its a mix of many bikes. We start talking and it turns out that he is an avid mountain biker and is looking forward to getting back home, taking some leave and heading for some decent single track. Somewhere in the middle of a conversation that repeatedly had him conjugating the F word, he asks me "Have you ever read 'Dirt Rag'". I had issues 101 and 102 with me. He was jonesing for a fix since there wasn't a place near him to get "Dirt Rag" so, after some haggling, he got my mags and I got some damn good beer. (Cask conditioned IPA). It might not be swag but, damn! That was good beer.

great story, ABNMTBFNG. Now if we can just get Dirt Rag into the military PO's (or whatever you call the place you buy stuff on base), we'd be golden.
As for the free shwag, yea, we do give stuff away at World Tour events. Maybe we can come up with something for forum members.
But if you want to order stuff directly from the source, give us a call at 800.762.7617, visit the swag section of the web site, or just look in the magazine.
Always thinkin business,
Maurice
