I was so tempted to be the first one to post in this thread, but I figured that would look waaaaaay too much like a keener. :D Oh wait, I am a keener. damn, missed my chance.

What this forum needs is an emoticon for a long, drawn out whistle.
That is a god-damn beautiful bike. I can't believe that much bike is only 31.5 lbs. (Sans mud, of course). Does the rear end of that bike pick up a lot of mud, or does it clear well?

Nice one Rocky.

The rear swingarm clears mud quite well, especially compared to the Slayer 70.

It takes some tuning on the XTR derailleur to have the cable clamp bolt clear the swingarm, it needs a button head bolt.

I'm thinking of sticking a Marzocchi 55 ATA on it in 2008 and shave another 1/3 of a pound off it.

Thanks for the compliments... It's not only pretty, it rides very nicely for a long travel XC bike. 18755

Speaking of Lyrik forks....... how do you like your's?

The Lyrik Solo is a really nice feeling fork, there's a lot of adjustment on the low/high speed compression (like Fox RC2). The only gripe I have is that my Maxle mic's at 19.85mm diameter which leaves the 20mm hub a lot of space to rattle around. The mechanic at my LBS has a Totem on his bike and it does the same thing.

I haven't noticed anything like that on my Argyle. Although I have not spent as much time on it as I'm sure you have on your Lyrik. And it's a different application. Thanks for the input.

Pretty (little tyres)Just imagine how big a 6" travel fork would have to be for a 29" wheel... and the BB would end up being 1.5" higher.

Not bad for a bike that ain't a Rocky. :D

That is a sweet bike Moose. Read a review in a mag I shall not mention a little while ago of the Enduro Carbon. (insert wolf whistle here). Maybe if I hit the lottery. I am partial to the Specialized rear suspension, even if they are an evil empire.

Tasted funny.. I hated the empire too.
I rode it, and it just fit.. sometimes
you get on a bike that feels right.

Then you have to ignore the brandage.

Rocky, your bike is hotter than donut
grease! :D

The Maverick Speedball seatpost (http://www.maverickbike.com/main/do/products/productID/48) has been great. Some people had problems with the nitrogen charged adjust mechanism but had good customer service from Maverick. Crank Brothers has bought the manufacturing rights so they will take over manufacturing and service. Only available in 30.9 and 31.6 diameter right now so just for big seat tubes.

I dislike handlebar clutter and I like having people think I'm grabbing my crotch when I drop the seat. :D

I was supposed to do this on a bike?

Some new additions... XTR discs with 180/160mm Magura rotors, the XT Shadow rear derailleur with XTR shifters and a Marzocchi 55 ATA fork with travel adjust from 125-165mm. I'm very curious to see how the Italian Taiwanese built 55 fork compares to the American Taiwanese built Lyrik fork. I need some warmer weather to even get out and bed in the brakes, there's been too much frost on the road to do that.

I picked up the XTR discs from Chain Reaction Cycles (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Kits.aspx?ModelID=24579) for a terrific price ($10 each more than Juicy 7's). I like the extra pad retraction of the XTR discs to keep them clear of the disc rotors and I'm hoping it reduces the noise generation the Juicy 5's exhibit in the wet/mud.

We'll also see how the bike does in the transition from SRAM X-9 derailleur/X-0 shifters to XT Shadow and XTR shifters. I also fiddled with the shift cable casing length to reduce rub and extra bends.

That is one sweet looking bike Rocky. Are you sure you don't work for RM? I mean, a lot of your posts concern how nice their products are.;)

Nope, just a keener... and because I own 6 bikes and 5 of them are Rocky Mountains. I only have 1/6th as many things to say about my Kona A. :D I have a Brodie and a Kona frame sitting here as well, but they're both Taiwanese made frames. I do like the fact that all of these RM frames were made less than 20km away and have great paint jobs.

Just added prophylactic water/mud protection to the Speedball seatpost after reading about shorter service life in icky conditions. Almost looks like a regular seatpost from a distance.
