After riding my Generation 1 Hooligan for over a year now, I would like to give it my seal of approval. I have never ridden a bike that fit me better. The EBB works without a hitch, no creaks, no slipping. Also Soul Cycles is great to deal with, they have been more than happy to answer any questions or comments that I had. also the frame came fully faced and chased to provide a hassle free build.

I'm pretty happy with soul cycles too. I got one of the 1st gen frame on closeout, and broke it 4 months later. I contacted Chad, and all I had to do was send in photos and it was warrantied. It took almost 3 months to get a new frame, but it happened to be in-between when the 1st gen frames sold out and the 2nd gen frames were available. Plus I got a choice of color. I'm super stoked on the 2nd gen frame....many nice improvements, including the option to make it geared or keep it SS.

Man, I saw another frame that broke in the same spot. I wonder if it's a design flaw or just a coincidence. Oh well, the bike rides great and mines still in one peice. Did you do something out of the ordinary to have it bust or was it during normal riding?

It could have been a design flaw or an error in heat treating- the crack started right on/next to the weld. I didn't realize the frame was cracked until it propagated entirely through the tube with a loud "thunk" while rolling over a small bump in a night lap @ 24/9.

It was the first time the bike had a suspension fork on it when it broke. Otherwise a rigid fork was used, including a couple times in Copper Harbor (where it is normal for 6" travel bikes to frequent group rides). Never did any drops over 1 ft with the bike.

I've looked at them, I just don't like that the geometry is set up for a long travel fork. If you put a 100mm suspension corrected rigid fork on a bike, it looks a bit silly. Then again, you could make a 96er out of one.

In the top photo I posted above, its a 100mm black up front. The new hooligan frame has what you mentioned- a 100mm corrected rigid with a 29'r wheel up front. The 69'r setup works well. I have no toe overlap and the handling/geometry is fine for me.

I wonder what the 29inch front wheel did to the Head angle? Have you measured it?
