Gary Fisher Rig. 29er singlespeed. Stock, except I put a Books Swallow saddle on it and switched SPDS to ATACs.

I LOVE this bike. Normally, 19" frames fit me, give or take. Yet, I went with a 21. Fits me like a glove and does everything I want or need it to. Point it here, it goes there, etc. I like the fact that It came with a Reba SL, which locks out easily, for climbing.

Evidently, the shop I got it from cant build bikes very well. Fortunately, I worked in shops for 10 years and re did everything correctly. (For instance, the rear wheel was in the dropouts crooked and the Avid mechanical was adjusted for the crooked wheel. Lots of loose bolts, including the adjustable bottom bracket, etc. Heck, they gave me the bike with only 40 and 65 psi of air in the + and - chambers!). But, after I did it right, I've had zero problems.

The only thing I'm going to do to it is put some Ergon grips on, the ones with the built in mini bar ends. Other than that, it's perfect for me.

If you're considering this bike, take one for a ride. Remember, I went with a size larger than I thought I'd go with and it fits me to a T.

BTW, reviews I've seen say that the bottom bracket creeks like all get out. True, it did. Pull the thing out and re grease it, torque the bolts correctly (remember I said earlier that everything worked loose or WAS loose) and you'll be good to go. Haven't had a problem since.

Interesting on the sizing; I typically ride a 19 ( give or take a half inch ), but I'm finding as I research 29er frames that I seem to be between sizes on almost all of them in terms of TT length and stand over height.

I really need to take a couple of days and hit the shops over in Seattle to size a few. I could count the number of 29ers in my town on one hand and have fingers left over :(

yes, i too thought the sizing was 'odd', but the most important factor when sizing a bike isn't the seat tube, but the top tube.

i tried the 19 and 21 inch versions of this bike. the 21 simply felt better and acted better for me. as far as taking the 19 and putting a longer stem on it, i don't believe in changing stems, except when 100% necessary. bikes are designed with the stem they come with. adding a cm or taking one away, via a stem swap, will change the bike's handling. granted, it's not by much and often times not very noticable. but in this instance, i was 'between sizes' also, but since the 21 felt right, it was right.

to add facts to all of this.....

in 1994, i broke my neck in a crash. in 2003, i herniated 2 lumbar discs. thus, i have back issues. this is the ONLY bike i have ever rode that i feel this comfortable on. not even custom road frame bikes have felt this good. this bike is MINE!!!

*disclaimer, of course results may vary. but, DAMN! i love this thing.
