View Full Version : Good headphones rule!
Anyone else really enjoy quality headphones?
Tonight I dusted off my 15 year old AKG studio quality headphones, which I haven't used to listen to music in maybe 5 years. I'm as blown away as I was when i first bought them. The clarity and tone is beyond what any speaker mere mortals can afford will reproduce.

I have this irrational fear when I sit in my house and listen to music on headphones that some homicidal maniac will sneak up on me and stick an axe in my chest. Thats crazy right??

oh, I love my headphones. dropping a couple hundred on a set of headphones is a good investment for me, I'm picky about my sound and I don't care about non-mobile sound systems worth $8000. I don't care about sound systems in general, but when I listen to my music I expect a certain quality. Must be the musician in me.
When one of my favorite bands comes out with a new cd, and my girlfriend can't hear the lyrics well enough to make them out, she grabs my headphones...

They are far from the best but I have a pretty nice set of Coby headphones. I put them on a few months ago after not using them for about 4-5 years and forgot how great they were. I have surround sound in my house and I don't like to cover my ears while out on a bike so I just never use them. I actually bought then when I was going to school in downtown Pittsburgh and rode the PAT bus from the North Hills.

yeah i've got a pair of their "smokin' buds" i'm not even kidding, that's the real name. they sound fantastic but the only time i really use earbuds tho is when i'm jogging or walking, and in those senarios i want to be able to hear at least some of what's going on around me so i don't get run-over by a firetruck or something and the skull candys block out almost all of the sound. they also cause a change in pressure every time my foot hits the ground when i'm running because they're so sealed-off, which makes my ears hurt after about 5 minutes.
so yeah i essentially never wear them because they're everything most people would want from a pair of headphones

Absolutely!
I spent $280 on my AKG K240DFs. I've seen them in videos of bands in the studio on MTV WAAYY back in the day. I've listened to other really good headphones and some have been nearly as good but none have been better.
