I like beer. When the options are mediocre expensive beer and mediocre cheap beer, I tip my hat to the PBR. Oh, and when I'm po', it works too. But I'm still not cool

The cause of most of my less-than-smart decisions, both in cycling, and in life (including going to fixed.).:D

Oh, and I do believe one of our forum members has made a christmas tree out of PBR cans. Perhaps they would care to share a pic?

P.B.R. stands for "Perfect Beer for Riding."

We call 'em "Peebers." Makes you sound North Dakotan when said correctly.

It is trendy, but don't let that put you off, it's delicious.

By the way, who here thinks they started drinking it before it was cool?

... and keep the momentum rolling by offering the best 8-second PBR commercial ever recorded (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snhiofL2Rh4&NR=1).

I assumed that the pbr thread was in the fixed gear forum due to it's popularity with the fixed gear free-stylin' hipsters in Brooklyn. Those girlie pant wearing boys love their pbr. That's why I generally stay away from it.

Although, now that I have it on good authority that it's delicious, I may have to get a six pack for Friday night.

I can remeber drinking 16 ounce missiles till dawn after a Dead show in New Haven,Ct. 1984. I may have to pick some up for old times sake. I would choose it over Budweiser any day.

Last summer I found myself in a small dusty bar in Cleater, AZ. This is the kind of place where the locals arrive on 4-wheelers, and several of these rigs are parked off the side of the bar. The parking area in front is occupied by dusty pick-ups, an old VW, and beater cars. Padian parks his Nissan pick-up in front. We go through the door and are greeted by a friendly cow dog.

The owner is manning the bar. She informs us she has Bud, Bud light, Coors, Coors Light, Miller High Life, and PBR. What would you choose? I opted for the PBR...just made more sense at the time.

Two range bums right out of Lonesome Dove came in. No guns on their hips, just Bowie knives. One cowboy got Miller, the other PBR. Someone stepped on the dog...it gave out a yelp!

Trippy!

Well, it was anti-climatic. The dog yelped. I had at least one more, then we left.

Hey, I've been down that road through Cleator, but never had the sack to stop in for a cold one. Used to go camping and MTBing back that way when I lived in the greater Phoenix area.

Man I cant remember a time we didnt drink PBR. I am getting closer to 40, Olympia and PBR were beers my dad drank in the 70s. I would say after the Coors Extra Gold kick of 1988-90 I probably grabbed a PBR at the Bushnell Garage (real gas station only they quit working on cars and serve beer) in about 1991 while attending SDSU (not Cali,Sodak)

True it is a trendy drink these days, in the bike world and in my flipside, the hotrod world. Maybe give folks credit that it is just a tasty cheap canned beer?:)

Been grabbing Schlitz the last couple weeks tho, it is a dollar less a 12er than PBR.

PBR had a real cheap cousin back in the early 70's Red, White and Blue. Anybody get a 21 year old friend to buy any the that for ya?
Always loved spring in WI. As the temps rise you wanted to be the first to cruise down all the back roads where we all went to drink, park and party. At these spots whether by "storing" the beer in the snow to keep it cold or tossing it to avoid being caught with it when the cops busted the festivities, there, uncovered by the melting snows were always cans of beer, pregnant from the expansion of freezing, but still free beer non the less.
ah, the swampy goodness of frozen/thawed/frozen/thawed pbr, red-white-and blue, Grain Belt, Schlitz and Blatz to name a few.

Dad had a Schlitz can tachometer mounted on the column of his '58 Chevy truck. Think my older brother still has it (the tach & the truck).

I think my first taste of beer was 5-6yrs old, sipping Dad's Schlitzes or Hamms. It was nasty shit back then, but as with all things you are told that you're not supposed to have, somehow beer became delicious.

My unlce drank Red,White and Blue up into the early 80s when I dont think he could find it anymore. Always had a couple of cases on the back porch.

PBR is "range beer". PBR, Hamm's, Schlitz, Schaffer's, and Black Label all fit in this category. 2 cases in the back of the VW Thing, USGS map in hand...Range trip!

A.K.A. "lawnmower beer," for suburbanites.

Cold suitcase, gas can, mower, ballcap, shades, expanse of green.... pull rip-chord!
